Opera news updates unwanted

I would like to disable the setting or feature that results in an O to pop-up on my phone 24/7 making a noise to notify me that something new has come in. I do not want to in-install Opera-Mini but if I can not find a way to disable these notifications sadly I will need to uninstall the browser that I like best! I just do not like nor want these notifications.

Thanks for your help with this issue!

I know this should be easy, but how do I get opera mini on iPad to open to a blank screen like the speed dial page when I open the app. Currently every time I open opera mini it opens the last page I had open. There's a setting in opera for windows to default to a certain open screen, but I can't find that setting in opera mini for iPad.

Please advise And thanks!

IOS 10, Opera mini. History will not delete on opera mini. Went into settings, individually deleted cookies, history, etc. Go back to browser and was able to use back button and go back two weeks of browsing. When the history is deleted along with cookies, how is it that I can use the back button to find two week worth of browsing history? Do I have a the wrong idea about what deleting history is suppose to do?

Opera Mini and Yahoo url

I recently installed Opera Mini on an Apache HTC (Pocket PC) The app seems to run quite nicely but I am having difficulty getting to the regular Yahoo site. Any other site I have tried is fine but no matter what I do when trying to go to the standard Yahoo site, I get the "norse" version of yahoo, i.e., m.yahoo.com. I have tried "yahoo.com", "www.yahoo.com", "us.yahoo.com" (all of which took me to the regular Yahoo site on my laptop), but each entry reverts to m.yahoo.com.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: the above is slightly misleading. I believe that most web sites have a mobile "version" which is normally preceded by "m" and that is the logical version a mobile device should seek out and load. The problem I am having is that somehow the mobile version I encounter is the "norse" version

Stop uninitiated download requests (and popup dialog)

Hi,

On numerous sites, Opera Mini (Android) will raise the Ask Before Download dialog box, for one or multiple videos on the page upon loading, without a request to download having been made.

It really does become quite annoying, and diminishes the experience. Does not occur in Chrome.

How can this be prevented, or is it a "feature"/bug?

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm webmaster and today I am pleased to operaa answer some questions. It is a small contribution to oprea fixes, enhanced user experience. I'm always interested users on the website, and want users to have the experience a good. Firstly, let's compare the interface from a site on the two versions: +Opera Mini: http://vuatai.com/file/operamini.jpg +Opera Mobile: http://vuatai.com/file/operamobile.jpg + Link test: http://vuatai.com/page/tai-game-dai-chien-pk-vtc-mien-phi

We can see that the browser interface on two very different versions. In mmod no image display. Opera should fix it. Thanks

Opera Mini 21 for Android

Hi! We are happy to announce the release of Opera Mini 21 and will be available on Google Play over the next few days.

We’ve focused on the start page in this release. You’ll probably notice the start page has been simplified and the news articles are more visible. Your bookmarks and saved pages are still safe. They have been moved in the main menu.

In addition to the UI changes, we've also improved the start-up sequences. Opera Mini 21 should be a little bit faster to start-up.

Please take Opera Mini for a spin and leave a comment with any feedback you may have for us.

dpreview.com won't open - error 300, something about certificate [v. 22 on Android]

Hello,

Can anybody with Opera Mini open dpreview.com? I am suddenly unable go to that site. Instead I get an error message that says something like:

Unable to open secure connection. Secure connection (error 300) https://m.dpreview.com Certificate issuer does not know the certificate. Make sure internet connection is working, etc...

The error message is in Finnish even after changing Opera language to English, so the above was a rough translation about what it says. Opera Mini was updated couple of days ago, and I think that site has not worked after the update. Exact verision is 22.0.2254.113472

I don't know if the problem is with Opera Mini or the website. FWIW, the default Chrome browser on the phone as well as my computer opens the site all right, no warnings about certificates.

Thanks!

The Opera Mini for Android team is happy to announce the release of Opera Mini 20.

Many of you have given us valuable feedback in this forum and especially there have been many suggestions for our download feature. In this version, we have improved the download feature. In the new Downloads, you can see ongoing download speed and more options available for each download item. We also have supported background downloading. Once you start a download, it will complete in the background even after closing Opera Mini.

Another thing you will notice in this version is the new start page news design. Now you can organize your favorite news easier in the start page.

Please take Opera Mini for a spin and leave a comment with any feedback you may have for us.

[Suggestion] inverted colors display, AMOLED skin, better sign in form experience

As we all know lot of big smartphone manufacturers are using AMOLED displays in their flagship devices and also some other, smaller brands are following the trend. To make long story short, hex black color (#000000) pixels on AMOLED screen are turned off, thus they don't use battery at all. Other dark pixels, if they are not hex black are not turned off but they also save a lot of battery. Darker the color, bigger the battery savings. Because of that I have following requests:

  • inverted colors display This is by far most important feature in order to save battery while surfing, and it also improves visibility outdoors without increasing brightness. Most webpages have white background and black text, and by using this feature it automatically invert colors meaning we would have white text on black backgorund. Here: http://imgur.com/a/R16Dp you can see webpage opened in Lightning Browser in inverted colors mode, it is "smart" enough not to invert photos or videos. Huge battery savings there.

  • AMOLED skin Lot of browsers has this and I think Opera should have it too, it should be fairly easy to make one as it is very similar to existing black theme. Please take a look here: http://imgur.com/a/gJKyd - this is Puffin browsers dark theme, Lightning browser AMOLED theme is almost identical. Dark grey adress bar background and little bit lighter grey for url/search letters. Actually when you are typing letters are white so that you can clearly see, and when you hit enter they become grey. Everything else is hex black color (#000000). So much better on eyes and battery too.

Those 2 suggestions combined, could save up to 30% battery while surfing. This fact alone should be more than enough to start working on them, no to mention that AMOLED phones are present and future, and also tablets will follow. (Samsung already have AMOLED tablets).

  • better sign in form experience Keyboard still covering most of sign in forms, http://imgur.com/a/hunDy 1st screenshot is Opera Mini, 2nd is Lightning browser. See how Lightning browser pushes sign in form above keyboard so that you can actually see what you are writing. That would be much better and very useful.

Hoping to get some feedback from developers.

And not to forget, thank you for great browser and your hard work! To me, it is almost perfect, much better UI than others.

This topic is not duplicated. Those are 3 requests regarding Opera Mini for Android smartphones, and in other topic there are 2 requests regarding Opera for Windows, on tablets. Thank you.

@leocg please STOP closing this topic, IT IS NOT DUPLICATE. It has 3 requests for Opera Mini, other thread has 2 request for Opera for Windows, specifically for AMOLED tablets. Those 2 Opera browsers are completely different and for different OS, and 2 requests overlapping are explained differently because of its platform and devices. You closing threads because some requests for Opera on one platform are same/similar as for Opera on other platform is stupid and it doesn't make sense. I read the rules and suggestions/request for Opera on Windows go to "Suggestion box" and for Opera Mini they go here. Thank you.
